Zeus’ride powered by PowerModule at Paris 2024 Olympics

Zeus'ride powered by PowerModule
A symbol of resilience, peace, solidarity and unity. The “horse” that rode through Paris on the occasion of the opening ceremony embodies the values at the heart of the partnership between PowerTech Systems, Atelier BLAM, MM Process, Transfluid and Paris 2024.

As well as being a powerful symbol, Zeus ride is also the result of the know-how and spirit of scientific and artistic innovation of a group of French companies.

The prototype is powered by a 130kW 384V motor, assembled inside the hull.

In addition to this, the central hull contains most of the electrical components, including energy storage:
-16 x PowerModule 48V (86kWh) propulsion batteries, batteries certified by Bureau Veritas ESTRIN
-1 x PowerBrick 48V-105Ah battery for the horse mechanism (5.37kWh)
-1 x PowerBrick 24V-50Ah battery for control and lighting (1.2kWh).

Zeus ride is a true technical challenge and a scene forever engraved in the eyes of the whole world. This is undoubtedly one of the most memorable creations of the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony.

Real time monitoring and telemetry service launched for PowerRack® and PowerModule® battery system

Monitoring & Telemetry Interface for PowerRack
Monitoring & Telemetry Interface for PowerRack® and PowerModule®

The Monitoring and Telemetry service is now available for our PowerRack® and PowerModule® battery system.

This service allows all battery operating parameters to be monitored in real time.

All information is collected by WIFI, 3G/4G, or TCP-IP ethernet networks.

The service is based on a secure API-REST interface based in a secure cloud.

The main features of the service are as follows:

Remote configuration

  • Parameter setting of all battery functions and operating thresholds (temperature range, voltage range, current range, power range, warning thresholds, maximum discharge depth, etc.)
  • More than 70 accessible parameters
  • Remote firmware update

Remote monitoring

  • Viewing all battery operating data
  • Early phase incident detection
  • Consultation of parameters in the form of graphs and tables
  • Fleet management and preventive maintenance

Data history

  • The data is compressed into 5 levels according to their age
  • The average, minimum and maximum values of each parameter are kept indefinitely
  • Data consultation by a “Time-Shift” function

Consultation 24-7 via WEB Interface

  • The data is accessible on any Internet browser (PC or smartphone) with secure access to the platform
  • The data is accessible from a database cluster and saved on a daily basis
  • Management of user profiles and access rights for data consultation.
  • all stored data is encrypted with strong algorithm for privacy

SMS or Email alert management

  • An SMS or email alert can be configured to be triggered according to the parameters defined by the user.
  • Alerts can automatically open an assistance or maintenance ticket on the ticketing tools available at the customer’s premises

The service requires a subscription that supports the provision of the “Gateway” module for the PowerRack or PowerModule, the communication package, the rental of a dedicated or shared server.

The system is now operational for the PowerRack® range.

EDIT November 2019 : It is also now operational for PowerModule® product range.

PowerModule certified for marine application and obtains Type Approval Certification(TAC) from Bureau Veritas

PowerModule certified for marine application

PowerModule certified for marine application

Saint Cyr l’Ecole, France, Dec 2023

Today marks a major step forward for PowerTech Systems, which has obtained marine Type Approval Certification (TAC) for its PowerModule range of modular batteries.

This international-wide certification, obtained from the Bureau Veritas Marine et Offshore organization, guarantees that the PowerModule complies with several standards, tests and procedures:

  • IEC 62619:2022 (Standard for cell safety and resistance to thermal runaway)
  • IEC 62620:2014 (Lithium ion cell durability standard)
  • Vibration and environmental tests for marine safety
  • Electrical and functional testing
  • ISO 9001 quality system

Battery modules are also tested and certified for safe transport of lithium-ion batteries (UN38.3 standard).

Thanks to its equivalence with other certification bodies (DNV-GL, LOYDS, RINA, etc.), this certification enables PowerModules to be used in all naval electrification projects requiring international marine classification.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for any project requiring certified marine batteries.

World premiere: “Ducasse sur Seine”, 100% Electric restaurant boat, fitted with the PowerModule / PowerRack battery system

Ducasse sur Seine electric boat - PowerRack
Ducasse sur Seine – PowerRack

PowerTech Systems is pleased to announce that it is equipping the “Ducasse sur Seine”, 100% electric boat with its  PowerRack®  modular lithium battery system.

This 100% electric boat (propulsion, on-board equipment, kitchens, etc.) is powered entirely by our Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, representing a stored energy of 720 kWh divided into two totally independent PowerRack banks.

The PowerRack battery system, certified by Bureau Veritas in early 2018, consists of 24 cabinets of 30kWh in 700V DC, connected in parallel. These batteries represent a weight of about 9 tons on board. This cabinet system limits floor space and allows energy to be stacked over the entire height of the hull, making the installation compact and integrated into the boat.

The “Ducasse sur Seine” has been in production since September 10, 2018. It delights the taste buds of its passengers twice a day (lunch and dinner), every day of the week. The trip to the heart of Paris is done without vibrations, silently, and without any pollution.

The official inauguration of the new vessel took place on 25 September 2018 in the presence of Mrs Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris, and other personalities.

Arkema 4: PowerTech Embeds Kynar® Technology in its battery cells

PowerTech and Kynar Technology
PowerTech and Kynar Technology

Designed for ocean racing, the trimaran Arkema 4 was launched in September to begin its first trials.

For this new competition trimaran, PowerTech developed very specific servitude batteries, using fluoropolymer separator films in Kynar® technology from the company Arkema.

This new material has very high resistance characteristics, with an extremely low film thickness. The result is the development of even safer battery cells with a 4% reduction in weight.

This battery powers the vital equipment of the racing boat. It is recharged via solar panels.
